Outline

To ensure all Practitioners are fully able to support children's phonetic awareness across the prime and specific areas within 30-50 months and 40-60 months through effective teaching and learning of phonics.

Description

To ensure all Practitioners are fully able to support children's phonetic awareness across the prime and specific areas within 30-50 months and 40-60 months through effective teaching and learning of phonics.

Outcomes

Practitioners will become familiar with the Letters and Sounds document, in particular phase one.
Practitioners will understand why children need to be able to 'tune in' to sounds to help them progress successfully through the Letters and Sounds phases.
Practitioners will recognise how their planning can effectively support children to securely hear and articulate sounds, to support them to use phonics as a tool for reading and writing.
